Welcome to Community Foundation
The Community Foundation awards grants to voluntary organisations and community groups in Tyne & Wear and Northumberland. In the last year we helped 1700 groups with grants totalling £7 million.
Our funds come from families and companies who share our vision of building stronger communities in the North East. By March 2008, they had contributed over £40 million to build a long term endowment fund.Â

Anne Perrin & Paul Robson from P&G celebrating the £1million with Hugh Welch and children from Kids Kabin in                                                                   Walker
International pharmaceuticals company Procter and Gamble have celebrated reaching £1m in their endowment fund at the Community Foundation with the help of children from Kids Kabin in Walker.
The fund, which has awarded over £1/2 million since it was set up in 1998, has been steadily growing and this month, with the help of Grassroots Endowments, P&G topped the £1m mark.
To mark the occasion Paul Robson and Anne Perrin from P&G, along with Hugh Welch, Chair of the Community Foundation paid a visit to Kids Kabin, a youth centre which P&G donated £500 to 10 years ago.
Kids Kabin's Will Benson was thrilled to find that Anne and Paul had a surprise up their sleeve in the form of a cheque for £609 to continue the good work they do with children in the Walker area. That's £500 plus inflation since 1998.
Paul Robson, Associate Director at Procter and Gamble said:
"I love this part of my job! I am so pleased that Procter and Gamble has reached the £1m milestone and that the money generated from that will benefit the people of Tyneside and Northumberland for many years to come."                                            Â
